  since this the 40 yr anniversity of the shooting.how did feel about the shootings as a jw do you see as the sign of the end times?were you scared about inpending perscution or revolution in this country.

  That brought tears to my eyes, it took me back to that time. I was not a witnesses I was a campus radical at the time at a university in ohio. I demonstrated at my school and we were attacked by fraternity guys for our beliefs no one was seriously injured. I participated in other demonstrations in cleveland and columbus'

  I wasn't expecting to be so affected by that video it's been a long time and I've been through many changes but I still remember how we all felt innocent and idealistic dreaming somehow we could change the world.

  I stopped going to the Kingdom Hall

  in late 1976, i had just turned 17. everyone in my family dropped out over the next few years, except a a brother who has been going strong his whole life.

  my mother went back a couple of years ago and i live in the same town as she does and she keeps talking to me about it.

  reading this forum, it sure brings back a lot of memories.

  so, periodically i might text him about the football or that a relative has died, or some other excuse to have some kind of contact.

  yes... i should know better, but you know, i got to try.. it obviously gets under his skin and annoys him.

  i really hate the way families are affected, but what amazes me is how the org thinks nothing of tearing people at the door away from their families. they get you coming in and going out.

  My only wish for you is that one day your brother comes to his senses and sees the wtbs for what it is.

  Why do I keep digging?

  it didnt take a lot of independant research, along with a life full of ridiculous experiences in the religion, to realize that the organization and its gb are just another religion focused on control and conformity.

  so why do i keep digging into the insanity and contradictions that they're based on.

  i think i know why, just want to hear how others feel..

  I actually think its genetic. Some people myself included are analytical by nature always looking to see what's under the next stone. even when i make a decision on something I still keep checking it out.

  You probably do the same always thinking about the new puzzle piece and where it fits in the large picture.

  Maybe thats just who you are I don't know?

  Wife & I were Without Electricity for 6 Days - Empathize with 3rd World......

  a massive storm from alaska knocked the hell out of northern california , giving us a foot and a half of snow , snapping trees like matchsticks , crashing multiple electrical lines in the sierra mountains where we live.

  knocking electric out for 6 days ( thus my dissapearing act from jwn for 6 days ) - we had a 90 ft. ponderosa pine tree ( 3ft, around ) crash on the lower end of our acre we live on .

  it's still leaning on oak trees suspended in time.

  First of all glad everything turned out well. What you said made me think back to my childhood in the 1950's everybody i knew had one uninteresting bathroom a black & white tv no remotes party line telephones no ac and we thought everything was the way it should be. we recently toured a historic home built in the 1700's the lady told us how many people crammed into that small area and this was pre out house time time and I imagined a woman like me going out in the woods in the winter and than she showed us the one washing tub for everyone clothes and bodies and I guess they thought it was normal.

  Today, I don't want to live w/o two bathrooms or any of the good stuff. We know that the future is uncertain and something could take it all away. Let's hope is not anytime soon.

  Sisters no allowed in KH period!

  i just found out during the elders school sisters are not allowed in the kh for any reason.

  i have a girlfriend that i became really close to when i was at bethel.

  we really were as close as real sisters, in fact i am still closer to her then my own flesh and blood jw sister but with my leaving the jw's it has been hard, she does not have a clue about my true feelings of this cult, i have tried to throw points out to her and she will not get them, she will not let her mind go there.. .
